Bloom Battle CHS
Introducing Bloom Battle, a floral design competition that will unite flower famers and floral designers in Charleston, SC.

Bloom Battle is a design competition that will use only locally grown ingredients from farms in the Charleston area. This competition will create a fun and unique networking opportunity for floral designers and farmers.
For a fun challenge the competition with incorporate mystery ingredients from local farms. The vessel will be the same for everyone, and there will be a time limit to finish the design during the event. There will be a popular vote, and a panel of local celebrity judges.
The competition will be hosted in downtown Charleston at the Waverly, a lovely event venue. Good Fruit Farm owner, Sarah Winecoff, is the organizer of this event.
We will also open the competition to an amateur category: local flower enthusiasts that would love to play with SC grown flowers and see the pros in action. Tickets will be available in early Spring of 2026.

Promoting South Carolina Agriculture
Bloom Battle is committed to promoting agriculture in South Carolina. We are excited to partner with fruit, flower, and veggie farms from the Charleston area.
Did you know that the US imports a majority of the cut flowers used in our country? According to the USDA, in the 2022 Charts of Notes report:
The United States imported nearly $3.3 billion worth of cut flowers, plants, and nursery stock products from 81 countries.

Imagine those dollars staying in our local economy supporting neighboring farms. When we buy local, we are choosing products that are grown much closer to home. This reduction in transportation or "flower miles" is good for the environment. Flower farms are also beneficial as a great place for pollinators to find nectar.
